My 5 Favorite Playlists of the Year

My favorite round-up blog of the year is here. I spend a lot of time trying to create a welcoming environment and I truly believe that having a good music playlist can add to our vibes in class.

I am constantly streaming new music on Spotify looking for a song that makes me feel a certain way. I don't really know how to describe what it is that I'm looking for, but I know it when I hear it.

Below I gathered my favorite 5 playlists that I made in 2019. Some of them are because of the music, and some of them are because of when and where we played them.

Playlist 5- 11.17.19 Yoga on the cliffs

This playlist has a lot of revivals from my first year of teaching. I tend to get stuck on songs because of the emotions they make me feel. This playlist makes me feel loved, supported, brave, optimistic and hopeful. I found many of these songs when I was starting my teaching career. I didn't know what was in front of me. I didn't know where I was planning to go, I just knew I had to get out there and teach. This playlist reminds me of how scary it was to face my fear, and do it anyway.

Playlist 4- Yoga songs 2019

This playlist has kind of a funny story. I had been listening to a lot of music that week and what I usually do is just add all the songs as I hear them to one playlist. Then go in later and rearrange them to match the vibe. Well... when I went in to rearrange these songs into playlists, I discovered that I accidentally made a 2.5 hour playlist lol. Some of my all-time favorite yoga songs are on here. Now I use this when I'm getting stuck building a playlist.

Playlist 3 Yoga at the Hard Rock 7.21.19

I loved this class for so many reasons. There was a roof, there was a pool but most importantly there were MAJOR technical difficulties. The silent disco headphones were picking up so much static from all the comic con frequencies that we couldn't use them. And guess who forgot her speaker... this girl! What started out as a hectic and stressful moment was alleviated by my friends and loved ones. My neighbor didn't hesitate to jump in his car, drive downtown and drop off my speaker in the middle of comic con traffic. The playlist is awesome, but when I listen to it, I think about how lucky I am to have the friends and loved ones that I do. We have since moved our rooftop classes to THC in Ocean Beach. If you want an epic view and a chill morning, come hang with us at the next class on 1/18.

Bonus playlists here: This was supposed to be the playlist for the silent disco dance party after class and it will 100% make  you dance

Playlist 2 - Our first winery class at Orfila Vineyards 1.26.19

The weekend before I graduated from teacher training Nate and I went to a winery and I told him "I'm gonna teach yoga here when I'm done training ". Turns out that winery said NOPE haha. But through connections in our community (thanks Jenn!) I was introduced to the team at Orfila vineyards and our Vine-yasa classes there began. If you've been to the winery classes, you understand why I love them so much. If you haven't been yet, come hang out with us! It's such a chill vibe. Our next one is on January 25th at 10 AM :)

Playlist 1 - Flower Flow: Yoga at the Carlsbad Flower Fields 3.30.19

I think this one kind of speaks for itself. These classes at the flower fields represented such a shift for me and so many people in our community. This class filled up so fast that we had to add another one! I was so nervous. It was my biggest class I have ever taught and I was getting so much anxiety. So Nate being the smart husband that he is, told me to make sure the playlist was something that made me really happy. Basically, it's an hour-long tribute to Odesza lol. If you want to join us at the flower field, we will be back there in 2020. Head to my events page to see more.

Did you have a favorite playlist of the year that isn't on this list? Want to share your favorite yoga playlists? Share in the comments!
